ABOUT HYPERCUBE

A small, incisive and expert consultancy with a passion for sports and mobility. That is Hypercube in a nutshell. Our team consists of passionate people who do what they do best and believe in what they do. In the more than 20 years that we have existed, we have built up extensive experience in the world of sports and public transport that we dare to say is unique. Not only in the Netherlands but worldwide.

We support our clients with economic challenges and innovations. We combine our knowledge of data with a people-oriented approach in which we enrich and deepen data with the input of important stakeholders. We use proven effective models and formulas and stand for a clear and understandable process approach.

We proudly go by the name Hypercube. Why? A Hypercube is a cube with multiple dimensions. For us, this symbolizes looking at a challenge from multiple perspectives. We make connections with an open mind in order to arrive at a well-founded and supported result and, last but not least: a pleasant collaboration!

MEET OUR TEAM

Pieter Nieuwenhuis

Founder/CEO

Pieter is director and founder of Hypercube (in 2000). From the beginning, he focused on value-chain-transcending economic analysis. His objective, down-to-earth view and powers of persuasion help decision-makers to make decisions. This has enabled Hypercube to grow into a unique and fully-fledged player in the international sports world and national public transport. Projects that characterise Hypercube's work include the SCBA for the public transport chip card he developed in 2003 for the Ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management. In 2007, he was at the drawing board of UEFA Champions League and Europa League. Pieter studied Mathematics and Computer Science at Utrecht University and subsequently worked for Capgemini, Computer Sciences Corporation and Aurora Business Consulting.
Rob Rijnhout

Head Mobility

Rob has worked in public transport since 1993 and has been associated with Hypercube as a (project) manager and consultant since 2001. He stood at the cradle of the OV-chipcard and subsequently contributed to many data-driven advices on the interpretation and impact of fare systems. He has also developed and implemented distribution algorithms for revenue from shared travel products. He currently advises the ministry of infrastructure and water management in the availability fee project.

Rob is a logical and analytical thinker, communicatively skilled with a well-developed eye for various interests at different levels. His background is diverse, ensuring a wide range of interests and a healthy empathy. He did his Andragogy studies in Nijmegen. This was followed by a career from programmer to information manager before specialising in public transport.

Pim Klaver

Consultant/Project Manager

Pim has been working at Hypercube as a project manager since 2018. After an international cycling career, he studied Econometrics. Thanks to his econometrics and journalism background, he is able to come up with concrete solutions to issues. Pim is very good at making complex issues understandable and is able to keep an overview of different interests and perspectives. He is mainly active in international football (UEFA and CONCACAF).
John Kleppe

Head of Innovation

John is a consultant and, as Innovation team leader, responsible for Hypercube's solid models and analyses, as well as their scientific substantiation. He has been working for Hypercube since 2014 and is a key contributor to many projects in the fields of sports and mobility, particularly in the areas of rankings and competition models (sports), and scenario studies and revenue forecasting (mobility). With a PhD in applied mathematics (game theory), he is a strong analytical thinker, in whom creativity and structure go hand in hand in the search for solutions. John also understands how to present them clearly.
Wim van de Fliert

CTO

Wim has been working for Hypercube since 2007 as a business architect and back office team leader. He works on developing economic and mathematical models for projects in sports, public transport as well as for SCBAs. After completing his studies in Mathematics, Computer Science and Philosophy in Utrecht, he completed professional training in ICT, from programmer to information analyst. As generalist with great abstraction skills, he soon became involved in the preliminary and design phases of ICT projects. He then spent over ten years in industrial automation, where his responsibilities included information analysis and system design of automated logistics systems. In his work at Hypercube, process and data design play an important role.
Jan Willem Mulder

Consultant/Project Manager

Jan Willem has been working as a consultant at Hypercube since 2018. He has extensive experience with mobility issues in the field of data-driven research, monitor assignments, design and revenue distribution of interoperable subscriptions and impact analyses. In addition, he has built up extensive domain knowledge around relevant topics in public transport. At Hypercube, his responsibilities include the set-up and maintenance of various BI portals. He is also involved in developments around the new public transport payment system and the possibilities this offers for products and fares. Jan Willem studied Economics at Utrecht University with a master's degree in International Development.
Thijs van Egmond

Consultant/Data Analyst

Thijs studied at the University of Amsterdam where he did the master's degree in Data Science after his bachelor in Physics. Since 2020, he has been working for Hypercube where he can combine his great love for sports with his analytical talent. As a consultant and data analyst, he is involved on a variety of sports projects. Thijs enjoys working at the intersection of the analytical and human aspects. In this way, he contributes to creative solutions that really help sports move forward.
Sjoerd de Vries

Consultant/Data Analyst

Sjoerd has been working at Hypercube as a consultant and data analyst since 2022. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in Econometrics from the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. During this time he knew pretty soon that after his studies he wanted to apply his knowledge and skills to issues in the world of sports. In his youth, he played football at a high level and football is still an important part of his life. He brings this passion into his work. Sjoerd has strong analytical skills and is able to place himself in the customer's shoes. For complex issues, he comes up with solutions that lead to a clear result.
Jelle van der Ham

Data Scientist

Jelle did a master's degree in Business Analytics and Operations Research at Tilburg University. He wrote his graduation paper at Hypercube on coaches in professional football. Since 2020, he has been working for Hypercube as a data scientist. Here, he contributes in the field of data analysis, modelling and dashboards for various clients such as UEFA, FIVB and CONCACAF. Jelle is very adept at creating applications that make complex data structures transparent to users.
Koen Streekstra

Data Scientist

Driven by an enormous passion for statistics, modeling and forecasting, Koen completed both a bachelor's and master's degree in Econometrics and Data Science at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Based on a love for sports, he wrote a thesis on predicting the outcomes of football matches. Therefore, it was no surprise that he was eager to start working at Hypercube immediately after graduating in 2023. Working as a data scientist, he combines his sharp analytical skills with a lot of enthusiasm and thus contributes to both the sports and public transport branches of the company.
Jaap van Bergeijk

Software Engineer

While studying Economics and Business Administration at the University of Amsterdam, he successfully completed the minor in Programming and fell under the spell of this craft. Since 2017, he has been working as a programmer at Hypercube. His duties include automating and optimising existing procedures. In addition, his structured way of working contributes to the reproducibility of our algorithms in projects in both sports and public transport. In his private life, Jaap's precise way of working manifests itself, among other things, in his ability to win almost all board games he participates in. He expresses his sporting talents as an indoor goalkeeper.
Renske Nijssen

Data Engineer

Renske obtained her bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Utrecht University and continued her academic journey with a master's degree in Data Science in Maastricht. Since mid-2024, she has been working as a Data Engineer, where she uses her passion for data and technology to create innovative solutions. Renske works on structuring and analyzing complex datasets and is constantly looking for ways to make data insightful and usable for the customer. In addition to her technical skills, Renske is an avid sports fan. Whether she is on the field herself or following the latest matches, sports play a major role in her life. She takes this passion with her into her work, where she works on optimizing various rankings, among other things. At Hypercube, Renske uses her analytical and technical talents to make projects successful and thus increase the impact of data in both sectors.
Dany van Spijker

Data Scientist

Dany started as a Data Scientist at Hypercube in 2024, shortly after completing his studies in Econometrics at the University of Groningen. A logical step for the sports enthusiast, who wrote his thesis on the impact of individual quality in team sports. With a financial master's degree in addition, he is able to view issues (for both sports and public transport) from multiple perspectives like no other. In his spare time, he uses his knowledge and skills in the field of sports and data as a fanatic and successful player of so-called 'fantasy sports' games, in which he and his teams compete with players from all over the world.
Antien Dreise

HR Manager

Antien joined Hypercube in 2017 as an organisational consultant and participates in Hypercube's HR-related assignments. She can also be hired as an HR professional on an interim basis. Antien specialises in organisational design issues and change and reorganisation processes. She obtained her master's degree in HR professional at the University of Groningen and was awarded the title of Grand Master in Change by Vlerick Leuven-Gent Management School.

Antien is result- and solution-oriented, has a feeling for relationships and is pragmatic. She has extensive (managerial) experience in the full breadth of the HR profession. She has an inquisitive mind particularly at strategic and conceptual level. This can lead to surprising and sometimes unconventional solutions to complex issues. At Hypercube, he can combine his knowledge and skills with his great passion for sports.
