THE QUESTION
As of October 2022, the province of Utrecht has made a subscription available for seniors (65+) with an income of up to 120% of state pension (AOW) standard. This is an off-peak hours subscription that is valid on weekdays after 9:00 in the morning and all day during the weekend and on public holidays.
The main goals are to improve self-management and to promote freedom of movement for this target group. Hypercube has been asked by the province to monitor the use of this subscription to see if the trial meets this objective.
HYPERCUBE’S WORK
Hypercube initially ensured that data flows from Translink were initiated before setting up the monitor. All transaction data at both U-OV and Syntus were received and processed on a monthly basis. This data was then linked to our public transport database to enrich the information and make cross-sections available at the municipal and line level.
The information was then made available to the province and the carriers involved in an online reporting portal. Periodically, detailed reports were then made focusing on important features and striking observations.
RESULT
Based on the monitor and associated reports, the province determined that the trial met expectations. The trial was then extended by one year to 2024 and Hypercube also provided the monitoring program for that period.
