THE CHALLENGE
More and more sports associations and clubs are integrating data and video analysis into their operations. However, purchasing data can be expensive, and bridging the gap between data analysis and practical implementation on the field requires significant effort and expertise. As a result, many organizations struggle to fully leverage all information and techniques currently available on the market.

To address this, Hypercube conducted research and assisted the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) in establishing the National Football Intelligence Centre (NFIC). This centralized institution provides access to data- and video-related products and services for both national teams and clubs.

By consolidating efforts at a national level, Romanian football can streamline the research and development process. Sharing knowledge and expertise among different stakeholders will benefit the entire football community, delivering customized services more efficiently in terms of both time and cost. The intelligence centre will manage raw data, structured information, football intelligence, and issues related to squad management and match analysis. The centre also provides an educational role to its clients.

THE PROCESS
The project began by collecting input from stakeholders through surveys and interviews to identify the types of data currently in use, how they are being used, and the challenges at hand. This helped shape the business processes for the NFIC, distinguishing the types of input, the necessary processing steps, and the desired outputs. This was then again shared with the stakeholders for feedback.

A business case was then developed, detailing the required human resources, expertise, costs, benefits, and funding needed to establish the NFIC.

THE OUTCOME
The Romanian football community responded positively to the plan, and the FRF has embraced the business model. They are now proceeding with the gradual, step-by-step implementation of the NFIC, developing products and services at a pace that aligns with the needs of its users.
