THE QUESTION
In North Holland, carriers accept an interoperable zone subscription under the direction of the Amsterdam regional transport authority (Vervoerregio Amsterdam). This subscription is valid in eleven concessions and with five carriers. The client was looking for a party that provides quarterly distribution keys and supports clients with insights and reports.
HYPERCUBE’S WORK
Initially, the existing method of revenue sharing and reporting was adopted one-on-one from the existing situation at the time. After this had been carried out satisfactorily, new insights were made available. These are based on algorithms developed by Hypercube in similar assignments. Finally, the tool in which information is shared has also been renewed. In this way, the carriers and the transport region have the desired information available more quickly in a more appealing format.
In preparation for the migration of this subscription from the public transport chip card (OV-chipkaart) to the payment card and the public transport pass, we have mapped out various possible successors together with the Amsterdam regional transport authority and the carriers involved and, based on analyses, advised on the design of the ultimate successor to the Randstad Noord Zone subscription, Randstad Noord Vrij.
RESULT AND FUTURE WORK
On a quarterly basis, Hypercube makes the distribution keys and financial settlement available to the parties involved. Hypercube is currently advising the Amsterdam regional transport authority and affiliated carriers on the development of a revenue distribution method for Randstad Noord Vrij. We do this based on our knowledge of the possibilities for revenue distribution for subscriptions in OVpay.
