Second-opinion on stadium development Rotterdam (2013)
The Feyenoord stadium in Rotterdam is an icon in Dutch Football, known by everybody by its moniker ‘De Kuip’ (or ‘the tub’). But it is now 75 years old, and even if the construction is still solid, the facilities are becoming outdated. Hypercube investigated the feasibility of a new stadium.
Plans for a new stadium were offered to the government of Rotterdam, which commissioned Hypercube to do a second-opinion.
Hypercube analyzed the interplay between Feyenoord’s sporting strength, its potential to attract large attendances from the region of Rotterdam to the stadium, and the club’s and the stadium’s finances.
We reported that a new, or heavily refurbished, stadium is a viable option, on condition that Feyenoord find their way up, both on pitch and off pitch.
