The international volleyball season consists out of two parts: 1) National team season (May 15 to October 15) and 2) the club season (October 16 to May 14). From a commercial as well as sportive perspective this dichotomy has some negative effect. Football is growing ever more accustomed to artificial grass. In the Netherlands, as of summer 2013, ten teams have such a pitch and there are at least four clubs that will switch in 2014 or 2015.
