Football is growing ever more accustomed to artificial grass. In the Netherlands, as of summer 2013, ten teams have such a pitch and there are at least four clubs that will switch in 2014 or 2015. Hypercube organized a tender that helped six of those clubs get artificial grass on very attractive conditions.
Clubs in the Dutch second tier (Jupiler League) are facing tough times, and didn’t have the resources for investments in the pitch. Collectively, however, they might be able to get a more favourable offer for purchasing artificial grass, which will then help them to keep costs low.
Hypercube organized a tender in cooperation with Kybys, a company that knows all about pitches and advises clubs on related issues. Together with the clubs and experts we determined the criteria on which the grass and the finances should be judged.
Four proposals came in from internatianally acclaimed producers of artificial grass. Ten Cate turned out to have the best offer, and it was selected to deliver the grass for the six clubs. Two of them made the transition immediately in summer 2013, including FC Dordrecht, which had a dream start in the competition and played their best season of decades.
What is more, the clubs got the grass for a price that on an individual basis would never have been offered. Ten Cate has excellent showcases now of their products in artificial grass.
